Cat and No Mouse

2006-2007, UK. Ages 4+

About

Cat and No Mouse

Based on stories by the Brothers Grimm

‘Welcome to my show’

This show stars… Cat! And what a star she is – she can dance, make jokes, tell stories…

And what stories! There’s The Cat and the Mouse (where a cat outwits a mouse), The Cat and the Fox (where a cat defeats a fox) and maybe, if there’s time, The Mouse and the Sausage (which isn’t quite as good as it doesn’t have a cat in it).
This show has got everything – story-telling, music, comedy… Oh, all right. And a mouse.

Tour

‘Cat and No Mouse’ premiered at The Arts Depot in October 2006 and then performed at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, presented by Serious Comedy.

Reviews

In comic competition, two co-stars battle – as their costumes would suggest – like cat and mouse over the outcome of their stories. Mouse wants to win, Cat wants to win. The pair are instantly likable; the chemistry crackles and rivalry simmers beneath their on-stage friendship. The humour is clever and the timing spot on, and the whole thing so energetic that I laughed just as much as the wee ones. The vivid, seemingly improvised use of imagination will inspire future comics, and with a healthy dollop of the ridiculous this can’t fail to entertain. The final story of ‘The Mouse And The Sausage’ brings this slice of fun to a quite perfect end.

The List *****

Exciting and funny

Primary Times

A fun 50 minutes of Tom and Jerry-style slapstick and Morecambe and Wise-esque one-upmanship… A wholly enjoyable way to start your Fringe day

The List

A lively storytelling show for children… Plenty of knockabout and rather disgusting noises, which have the children in hysterics, keep the show rollicking along
